She suffered from multiple organ dysfunction, including the failure of her kidneys. The new norm was peritoneal and then hemodialysis. She finally returned home after an eighteen-day stay in the hospital after a time when she was in danger of dying to her long journey back to health. The way she lived her life was forever altered. Angelica had been on dialysis for a year-and-ahalf until she finally was able for the biggest procedure of her life, a kidney transplant. It was her own mother who was the one to donate her kidney. Angelica Hale along with her mother underwent the transplant of a kidney at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston on September 13, 2013.
